Connect ChatGPT or Codex

AiNecto's remote MCP URL is:

https://ainecto.com/mcp

Both ChatGPT and Codex connect to AiNecto through MCP. In ChatGPT, add the remote MCP URL in the app. For Codex, use the AiNecto CLI when npm is available, or add the server directly with Codex.

Connect from ChatGPT

Proceed in a ChatGPT account and workspace that allows custom MCP servers.

  1. Open Plugins in ChatGPT on the web.
  2. Select +, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Enter AiNecto as the name.
  4. Enter https://ainecto.com/mcp as the Server URL.
  5. Review the detected authentication method.
  6. Review the risk notice and continue, then select Create as a plugin.
  7. Install the new AiNecto plugin.
  8. When the AiNecto sign-in page opens, approve access with the account you will use for real work.
  9. Start a new Work conversation, type @, and select AiNecto.

Custom MCP access is subject to workspace permissions and security policy. If the menu is unavailable, ask the workspace administrator about your access.

Connect Codex

Automatic setup with the AiNecto CLI

If the environment can run Node.js and npm, run:

npx -y ainecto@latest setup

A browser opens if AiNecto authentication is required. Setup detects installed Codex environments, adds the AiNecto MCP server, and verifies the connection. Run it once per device.

Add AiNecto directly in Codex

codex mcp add ainecto --url https://ainecto.com/mcp

Verify the registration:

codex mcp list

To configure it manually, add this to ~/.codex/config.toml:

[mcp_servers.ainecto]
url = "https://ainecto.com/mcp"

When Codex requests browser authentication on first use, approve it with the correct AiNecto account.

Use it in the Codex app

Settings added by AiNecto CLI setup or codex mcp add are shared with the Codex app and extension. If either is already open, refresh it or start a new session after connecting.

Verify the connection

Show me the AiNecto workspaces and projects I can access.

If the expected list appears, the connection works. If it differs, check the AiNecto account and workspace or project sharing permissions.

First task

Find and read the Project Context Markdown document in [project name].

After the read succeeds, return to Getting Started. If the connection fails, go to CLI and Connection Troubleshooting.
