File Documents

File is a document type for storing both existing user materials and new output files created by an Agent as independent items in the project tree.

Supported materials

You can add images, PDFs, MP4 or WebM video, audio, text, code, and CSV files. Check the current upload screen and your plan for exact file types and size limits.

Upload an existing file

Use the web app to add source material, references, or results received elsewhere. In an Agent environment that supports file upload, you can also specify a local file and its destination.

Upload [file name] as a File document to [folder name] in [project name].

If the Agent cannot access the file in its environment, upload it through the web app.

Create and upload an Agent result

An Agent can create a new file during the work and save it to the AiNecto project.

Examples include:

  • A PDF research report
  • An analysis CSV
  • A generated image
  • Code or configuration
  • A text report
  • Video or audio output
  • Another supported work file

Create the result of this work as a [file format] and save it as a File document in [folder name] in [project name].

Do not leave a useful result only in the conversation. Save it in the correct project and folder so another person or Agent can use it. Record the relationship between the source-of-truth document and the result file.

Confirm after saving

Whether the file was uploaded or generated, check:

  • File name and type
  • Project and folder
  • File size and whether it opens
  • Access permissions
  • Duplicate files

Conditions for Agent upload

An Agent upload is possible only when the working environment can read or create the file and the format is supported by AiNecto. If either condition is not met, use web upload or convert the result to a supported format.

File versus attachment

  • File — an independent project-tree item for source material or output
  • Attachment — a file viewed together with a specific document

Use an attachment when the file is meaningful mainly beside the document under review. Use File when the material should be found independently in the project.

Connect the file to project memory

Uploading or generating a file does not establish the current project standard. Summarize its important content and decisions in Markdown and record the file's purpose and location. A result file can also be linked to a Kanban card as a deliverable or test evidence.

Security

Confirm that organizational policy allows the upload. Remove secrets and personal data. Review the workspace, project, folder, document, and public-link scope.
